What are the rules?

Jimsville tournaments follow a specific ruleset. Sets are best 2 out of 3 except for winner's, loser's, and grand finals which are best 3 out of 5. Additionally, items, stage hazards, stage morph, and spirits are off. Games are played with three stocks and a seven minute timer. You can find a sheet with these rules at any setup at a tournament.

Players can start on any of these five stages by agreeing to start on Pokémon Stadium 2 or banning stages. If banning, both players play a rock-paper-scissors match and the winner bans one of the five stages. The loser bans two and the winner picks one of the remaining stages to start on.

-Pokémon Stadium 2

-Battlefield

-Small Battlefield

-Hollow Bastion

-Town & City

After an individual match is completed, three more stages open up for counterpicking. The winner bans three stages and the loser picks one of the remaining five stages. The winner can also tell the loser whether they are switching characters or not.

-Smashville

-Kalos Pokémon League

-Final Destination

Note that these rules are subject to change if the rest of the state decides a change in the rules is warranted. Side events will follow these stage rules unless otherwise noted. You are free to use any ruleset you please when playing friendly matches.

Common Questions:

What is Jimsville?

Jimsville is Longmont's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate community. We host both casual weekly tournaments and higher-stakes tri-annual tournaments with prizes on the line. We pride ourselves on being a chill, friendly, and accessible community, almost like a village.

No, what is Jimsville?

Oh, you mean what does Jimsville mean? While it's not the most flattering name, it's a name we wear with honor. The term Jim was coined by some Smash figureheads we don't talk about anymore and refers to *that* guy. That guy who walks into the venue with all gusto and no awareness. That guy who gives top players advice after a set and tries to act all buddy buddy with them. AIV and Kid Cuisine, two longtime members of the Longmont Smash scene, nicknamed Longmont Jimsville as a joke and the name stuck. The moment we wanted to start a weekly in Longmont, we knew it had to be called Jimsville.

“But I'm not good at Smash!”

Show up anyway! There's more to Jimsville than tournament results. Get some friendlies before or after bracket starts or strike up a conversation when you're not playing. We're a tight-knit community and many friendship have been formed during bracket.
