Smash Brothers Tournament - Royal Rat Rumble

$15.00 Entry ($10 for Members)

Top 4 Places will be paid (based on number of total entrants) Registration Begins at 5PM, first round begins at 6PM

What are the rules?

Jimsville tournaments follow a specific ruleset. Sets are best 2 out of 3 except for winner's, loser's, and grand finals which are best 3 out of 5. Additionally, items, stage hazards, stage morph, and spirits are off. Games are played with three stocks and a seven minute timer. You can find a sheet with these rules at any setup at a tournament.

Players can start on any of these five stages by agreeing to start on Pokémon Stadium 2 or banning stages. If banning, both players play a rock-paper-scissors match and the winner bans one of the five stages. The loser bans two and the winner picks one of the remaining stages to start on.

-Pokémon Stadium 2

-Battlefield

-Small Battlefield

-Hollow Bastion

-Town & City

After an individual match is completed, three more stages open up for counterpicking. The winner bans three stages and the loser picks one of the remaining five stages. The winner can also tell the loser whether they are switching characters or not.

-Smashville

-Kalos Pokémon League

-Final Destination

Note that these rules are subject to change if the rest of the state decides a change in the rules is warranted. Side events will follow these stage rules unless otherwise noted. You are free to use any ruleset you please when playing friendly matches.

Common Questions:

What is Jimsville?

Jimsville is Longmont's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate community. We host both casual weekly tournaments and higher-stakes tri-annual tournaments with prizes on the line. We pride ourselves on being a chill, friendly, and accessible community, almost like a village.

No, what is Jimsville?

Oh, you mean what does Jimsville mean? While it's not the most flattering name, it's a name we wear with honor. The term Jim was coined by some Smash figureheads we don't talk about anymore and refers to *that* guy. That guy who walks into the venue with all gusto and no awareness. That guy who gives top players advice after a set and tries to act all buddy buddy with them. AIV and Kid Cuisine, two longtime members of the Longmont Smash scene, nicknamed Longmont Jimsville as a joke and the name stuck. The moment we wanted to start a weekly in Longmont, we knew it had to be called Jimsville.

“But I'm not good at Smash!”

Show up anyway! There's more to Jimsville than tournament results. Get some friendlies before or after bracket starts or strike up a conversation when you're not playing. We're a tight-knit community and many friendship have been formed during bracket.

Jun
7
1:00 PM13:00

MTG Final Fantasy 2 Headed Giant Prerelease Magic the Gathering @ 1 PM

Entry: $65 / $30 for members.

2 Headed Giant Format:

Each player will receive a pre-release kit or 6 booster packs. You will share your pool of cards with your partner and each build a minimum 40 card deck. You will play 3 rounds of a single 2v2 game where you share a life total of 30. Damage, loss of life, and gaining life happen to each player individually. The result is applied to the team’s shared life total.

Example: In a Two-Headed Giant game, a player casts Flame Rift, which reads, “Flame Rift deals 4 damage to each player.” Each team is dealt a total of 8 damage.

Prizing:

Each player will receive 1 raffle ticket per every match played, in addition to the pack per win prizing (minimum 1).

Raffle:

Pre-Release Kit will be raffled off at the conclusion of the event. This pre-release kit is yours to keep, you may also use it for a future pre-release this weekend for the 2 Headed Giant on Saturday @ Noon, or used in Limited League

What is Magic the Gathering Sealed Deck?

This is a great format if you look forward to the excitement of checking out new cards and playing without being required to bring your own pre-built deck. Build a deck from 6 unopened booster packs. Minimum of 40 cards with no maximum, as long as you can shuffle your deck unassisted. There is no limit to number of individual cards that can be played. For example, having 5 or more of an individual card is permitted. Sealed Deck works well as a gateway format for new players. It levels the playing field, exposes them to a variety of new cards, and enables them to start building their collection for future events. All cards from the 6 boosters packs that were not put in the main deck.

Torchbearer Dungeon Crawl RPG - Meet Up

Torchbearer Dungeon Crawl RPG - Meet Up

We are looking for 3-5 players that could meet either every week or every other week

Torchbearer is a dungeon-crawling role-playing game.

There are a lot of dungeon exploration games in tabletop roleplaying. It’s the genesis of the genre, and most of the big tabletop RPGs people are familiar with are of this style. One of the things that differentiates Torchbearer is its heavy emphasis on the crawl. While other games are focused on getting loot, fighting monsters, and generally being completely badass adventurers, Torchbearer is about attempting to get loot and deal with monsters, while being completely worn down by the dungeon experience.

It turns out exploring dangerous unknown environments while lugging a bunch of heavy gear and trying to stay hydrated and rested and fed is really, really hard! It turns out there’s only so much space in your backpack and your habit of checking over every room you enter sometimes gets you into trouble and it’s hard to avoid getting cranky as all hell when you’ve been stuck wandering around dank passageways for hours without any snacks.

Torchbearer is based on the Burning Wheel, but the underlying mechanics take on a very different feeling in this iteration. All three games are from the same design team, though Mouse Guard in particular feels miles from the others in both narrative setting and tone. Torchbearer is ‘crunchy’ in terms of having a lot of mechanics to interact with, though it doesn’t actually involve much number crunching or advanced math.
